Du Quoin State Fair
Du Quoin, IL
The Du Quoin State Fair was founded in 1923. The main entrance shown here was built in 1948. It features twin gate houses. A metal arch with the words "World Trotting Derby" connected them. It previously read "Hambletonian". In 2010, the Fair stopped hosting the World Trotting Derby and the letters were removed. The billboard sign shown in the last photo above was probably built much later and updated with the graphic display board at some point. For more, see this website. [map]
