Mid-Century Modern Buildings |
(hit "refresh" to get the most recent version of this page)
This section focuses on buildings from the 1950s-1970s, commonly referred to as mid-century modern architecture. Many people refer to this period as "googie", "jetset", "space age", "Jetsons", "populuxe", etc. However, I prefer the term mid-century modern since it is more accurate and inclusive of the variety of buildings produced during this time period.
This section has about 500 pages (more than any other section) and over 8,500 photos. Don't forget to check out the pages beneath the map. You will also find many examples of mid-century modern buildings in other sections (Eateries, Car Showrooms, Gas Stations, Theatres, etc.). If you have recommendations of buildings that you think should be included here, I'd love to hear from you. Enjoy! |
