Tilden Park Carousel
Berkeley, CA
The Tilden Park Carousel was built by Herschell-Spillman in 1911. It was originally installed in Urbita Springs, CA. In 1916, it was briefly installed in San Diego before it was put in storage until 1935. The carousel was installed in Griffith Park in Los Angeles for a couple years and then put back into storage. It has been here since 1948. This menagerie carousel features 36 jumping horses, six standing horses, two frogs, two roosters, two zebras, two giraffes, a cat, a deer, a dragon, a goat, a pig, a stork, a tiger, a lion, and a dog. There are also three chariots and a tub. The carousel was restored in 2008. For more, see this website.
