Angelo's Steak Pit
Panama City Beach, FL
Angelo's Steak Pit features a bull that goes by the name of "Big Gus". Angelo's opened in 1958 and this statue has been there since 1970. He was designed to be a Spanish bull but was supposedly transformed into a Longhorn. That seems unlikely since there is an identical statue in Waukon, IA. This statue was probably built by Sculptured Advertising of Sparta, WI. The owner of Angelo's was going to put other bull statues at two other locations. However, those restaurants were never built and the two bulls remain in storage. In 2018, the bull was knocked over and damaged during Hurricane Michael. The statue was restored and reinstalled in 2019. These photos were taken a few months later. For more, see this website. [map]
