Turtle Belcourt, ND |

This concrete Turtle is installed on a hillside along with a small church and barn, and the Four Arrows Monument. They have been here since at least 2008 The Arrows were built in 1985 and this turtle might have been built at or around the same time. Belcourt is located in the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation. Tommy the Turtle is 30 feet tall and is installed in Tommy Turtle Park. The snowmobiling statue was built by Boots Reyholds in 1978. [map] |
W'eel Turtle Dunseith, ND |
The W'eel Turtle was made by George Gottbreht and Curt Halvorsen from 2,000 tire rims in 1982. It is 40 feet tall. Originally, the turtle's head had a motor that moved the head from side to side. Dunseith is the Gateway to the Turtle Mountains. [map] |
