This Kress was built in 1935, designed by Edward F. Sibbert. This building is L-shaped and has polychromed terracotta details. The store closed in 1979. It is now a retail complex entered from the Orange Avenue side. The Kres Chophouse & Lounge has occupied the Church Street side of the building since 2003. [map] |

The original Kress in Tampa was built in 1900 at this downtown site. It was demolished and replaced with this building in 1929. The building was designed by G.E. McKay. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building features a suspended bronze marquee and two terra cotta façades. This Kress stands between a former Woolworth's and a former Newberry's. The store closed in 1981. The building has been vacant for many years. [map] |
