| The Restaurant Madrid was founded in 1956 as the Moulin Rouge restaurant. In 1959, the owner added a dance hall. In 1967, the restaurant was destroyed by fire. It was rebuilt and reopened as Restaurant Madrid in 1968. The place is a popular stop on the Trans Canada Highway as a combination gas station, restaurant and hotel. In addition to this dinosaur collection and the chateau-like architecture, there are several monster trucks. The dinosaurs were created around 1993 and after being displayed around Quebec, they were moved here. These photos are from 2009. In 2011, it was announced that the restaurant had been sold. The building was demolished in 2012, replaced with a gas station and restaurant. The travel center is now known as Madrid 2.0. It appears many of the dinosaur statues remain, if not all of them.
