Louis' Lunch New Haven, CT |
Yankee Doodle Coffee Shop [gone] New Haven, CT |
Louis' Lunch opened in 1895 and claims to have invented the hamburger in 1903. The burgers are broiled vertically and served on toasted white bread. They also have lots of homemade desserts and great potato salad. For more, see this website. [map]
The Yankee Doodle Coffee Shop opened in 1950. The narrow eatery had only 12 stools and had changed very little over the years. The restaurant closed in 2008. By 2009, it was gone. |
