This former Little Tavern was built around 1935 and restored in 1981. Soon afterwards, there was a fire and the building was restored again. The signs were reproduced from drawings. This location closed for good in the 1992. The building was put for sale on eBay but never found a buyer. It was taken apart in 2003. The steel panels were saved with plans to reassemble the building at the National Capital Trolley Museum in Colesville, MD. However, I haven't heard anything about that happening. This former Little Tavern most recently housed a Subway restaurant. The building is officially known as Little Tavern #27. These photos are from 2010. By 2014, the building had been repainted tan and brown. The roof is still the same color. In 2017, plans were announced to build a large apartment building on the property directly behind the Little Tavern. By 2018, the Subway had closed, the sign was removed, and the building was boarded up. It was moved during the construction. In 2021, the Little Tavern building was returned to its original location of the 550 Morse apartments. The plans' illustration shows a recreation of the original sign. However, I don't believe that has happened. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]
