former Empire Grill Skowhegan, ME |
|
The Empire Grill previously housed Patrick's Pizza Joint. In 2003, it was transformed into a set for the HBO movie "Empire Falls." After the filming, the set continued to be used as a restaurant. The interior paneling and furniture, sign and windows were all created for the movie. The old arrow parking sign was originally across the street. HBO rented it and moved it to the back of the building for the movie. The Empire Grill purchased the sign and kept it. The restaurant closed in 2010. By 2011, the building was housing the M. Thai restaurant. The Empire Grill signs are gone. The building now houses the ZAAP Thai Restaurant. For more, see this website. [top row construction photos thanks Lawrence Bloom] [map] |
