2007: | 2020: |
This former Cities Service station housed a thrift store in 2007. In 2014, the building was vacant. Between 2014 and 2016, the building was painted and the roof was redone. It still appeared to be vacant. The classic Cities circle above the entrance was covered up. [map] |

This former Cities Service station has housed a car wash for many years. The canopy and large addition on the left are not original. [map] |

former Conoco station Anniston, AL |
|
This former station in Birmingham appears to be from the 1920s. For more, see this website. [map]
This former Conoco station now houses Bobby Horne Used Cars. The rock facing was probably not part of the original building design. [map] |
former station Roanoke, AL |
||
This former station was built in 1922. The building originally had a lighthouse on top and the decoration below was meant to represent rocks. Sometime after the lighthouse was removed, an eye was painted on the building since the archway somewhat resembles an elephant's trunk. Some people refer to this as the Snow Elephant Building. It operated as an Exxon station from 1950-1989. Later, it operated as a produce stand. It had been vacant since at least 2007. In 2022, reproduction pumps were added and the building was repainted. It now houses the drive-thru White Elephant Coffee Shop. [first photo thanks Tim Ross] [map] |
