former station
Hannibal, MO

former station
St. Louis, MO
This building in Hannibal appears to be a former station. It is probably from the 1920s or 1930s. [map]

This former station in St. Louis now houses Friedhoff's Auto Service. Friedhoff's has been here since 1939 but the station looks older than that. [map]

This former station in St. Louis now houses the United Realtors Co. [map]

former station
St. Louis, MO
This former station was built in 1930. It was used as a Shell station in later years but I don't know what brand was sold here originally. It has housed a barber shop since at least the 1990s when it was Frank's Barber Shop. Allan's Clip Joint has been here since at least 2005. [map]

former Skelly station
Sedalia, MO
This former Skelly station now houses the Stereo Clinic. By 2022, the building had been remodeled. The brickwork has been covered up and the canopies either removered or covered up. [map]

former Skelly station
Independence, MO
This former Skelly station housed Buddy's Automotive when these photos were taken in 2010. The building is vacant now. [map]

Skelly Building
Kansas City, MO
While not a gas station, I'll include this Missouri building here anyway with these Skelly stations. The Skelly Building was built in 1938. The building was expanded in 1945 and 1955. The Skelly Oil Company was founded in Tulsa, OK in 1919. Skelly built gas stations throughout the Midwest. The company merged with Getty Oil in 1977 and the Skelly name was discontinued. [map]

former station
Joplin, MO
former station
Nevada, MO
former Skelly station
Nevada, MO
This former station in Joplin has been vacant for many years. It might have been a Phillips 66 station originally. [map]

This former station in Nevada has also been vacant for many years. This might have been a Phillips 66 station originally. [map]

This former Skelly station in Nevada housed the Headline Design hair salon in 2010. In 2008, the building was in use as a sandwich shop and convenience store known as the Subway Chalet. The building appears to be vacant now. For more, see this website. [map]

The Big Pump Gas Station
King City, MO
The Big Pump Gas Station is shaped like a giant electric gas pump. The structure was used as a gas station office and restrooms. It was built in 1937 of galvanized metal over wood and was originally painted black and white. The Big Pump was originally located 35 miles away in Maryville, MO. It operated as a Skelly, a Texaco, and a Co-Op station. In the 1970s, the building was about to be destroyed when it was bought and donated to the Tri-County Historical Society in King City. The structure was restored and stands in a local park. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The building was repainted again in 2013. For some reason, the order of the text and the prices were changed at that time. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]
