former Richfield Beacon station Eugene, OR |

This former Richfield Beacon station in Grants Pass was built in 1929. It was one of many stations built along Highways 99 and 101 in California, Oregon, and Washington. An addition was made to the front of this building. The building housed the Beacon Bar & Grill for many years. By 2018, the building was occupied by the Uptown Bar & Grill. The neon sign has been removed. The 125-foot-tall tower that originally accompanied this building was removed in 1940 for scrap metal. These towers served as beacons for airplane traffic. [map]
This former Richfield Beacon station in Eugene was used as a wedding chapel in recent years. It now houses the Nature Discovery School. [map] For more, see this website. |
