Santa Claus

Santa Claus

Santa
Dallas, TX
(now Unger, WV)
The Santa Claus in North Pole is located at Santa Land House which opened in 1952. The statue is 42 feet tall. It was built in the 1960s by Wes Stanley of Stanley Plastics in Enumclaw, WA. It was originally a seasonal display at the Westlake Mall in Seattle. Originally, one of the statue's arms moved and he smoked a pipe. At some point, the statue was installed in Anchorage, AK. In 1978, the statue was purchased by the owner of Santa Land House. After restoration, the statue was installed at Santa Land House in 1983. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. The Santa in Dallas was originally owned by Marshal Moody and was installed in front of his store since at least the 1980s. The statue was created by Jack Bridges who also made Dallas' Big Tex. The statue was placed in storage when the store relocated. In 2006, the statue was sold to a private collector in Unger, WV where it is displayed with many other statues. Santa Claus
Santa Claus, GA
This Santa Claus statue is located at the south entrance to this tiny town with Christmas-themed street names. There is an identical statue and welcome sign at the north entrance. They were installed sometime between 2008 and 2014. [map]

Santa Claus & Snowman
Oxnard, CA
Frosty the Snowman
Maricopa, CA
This Santa Claus and Frosty the Snowman statues were originally located at Santa Claus Lane in Carpinteria, CA. The Santa-themed roadside attraction started out as a juice stand in 1948. The complex included Santa's Kitchen, Santa's Trading Post, Santa's Toyland, and a miniature train ride. The Santa statue was installed on the roof of Santa's Candy Kitchen in 1950. His 22-foot-tall upper torso was made from wood, chicken wire and cement and projected from a faux chimney. Frosty is about 25 feet tall. His headlamp eyes were lit at night.

In 2003, the owners of the Santa Claus Lane property decided to redesign the site as a fishing village themed shopping center. The Santa statue was rescued and moved to Oxnard at that point. The statue was restored and a protective fence built around him. In 2008, the statue was refurbished and two toy soldiers and a snowman were added. Frosty was purchased for $3,500 and installed at Tom Merkel's Cuyama Car Garden in Maricopa. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, and 4. [Santa map]

Santa Claus [gone]
Princeton, IN
Santa Claus [gone]
Marshall, TX
The Santa Claus statue in Princeton was located at the Castle Car Wash. The statue was in storage when I was there in the summer of 2010. He was probably only displayed during the holiday season. The car wash closed in 2011 and these statues were removed.

This Santa Claus statue is in Marshall was all that remained of Christmas Land, a seasonal drive-thru park. Christmas Land closed around 2008. These photos are from 2011. The remains of this statue were still there in 2013 but gone by 2016. For more, see this website.

Lynwood, CA
Santa Claus [gone]
Los Angeles, CA
Santa Claus
Hayward, CA
The Santa Claus statues shown in the two rows above were originally produced by Prewitt Fiberglass. The mold was later sold to International Fiberglass which also produced these statues in the 1960s. The statues are about 12 feet tall. For more, see these pages from International Fiberglass marketing materials [courtesy of Terry Nelson]: 1 and 2.

The Santa statue in Lake George was located at Magic Forest where there were many other statues including a larger Santa statue. It is now in a private collection. In 2018, the owner auctioned off most of the statues at the park.

The Santa statue in Lynwood stood on the roof of Pageantry Productions which has moved to Paramount, CA. This photo is from 2008. Shortly after that, the store was ravaged by fire and the statue was supposedly destroyed as well. This Santa statue may have been previously installed at the nearby Dooley's Hardware which is also gone now.

The Santa statue in Los Angeles briefly appeared at an antiques shop in 2013. It was the same design as the ones in Lake George and Lynwood.

The Santa statue in Hayward is located at Bell Plastics where there are also four giant Paul Bunyan statues. The Santa statue was originally one of three identical statues displayed at Dooley's Hardware in Long Beach, CA. It is not known what became of the other two Santa statues. This statue was later moved to Paramount, CA. It was in rough shape when it arrived in Hayward in 2013. It had been completely refurbished when these photos were taken in 2014. [map]

This Santa statue in Fresno stood next to the roof of the Valley Novelty Company, a party store. The first photo is from 2008. By the other two photos from 2013, the statue was tipping backwards significantly. In 2017, the store closed and the statue was removed. For more, see this website.

Santa Claus
Haubstadt, IN (now Evansville, IN)
2006: 2010:
This Santa statue is 34 feet tall and was built in 1974. It was originally installed in front of the courthouse in Haubstadt. The statue stood in front of the former Busler Truck Stop which was still open when these first photos were taken in 2006. In 2008, the property was sold and the truck stop closed. By 2010, the statue's paint had faded considerably and his body was home to hundreds of pigeons. In 2012, the buildings on the lot were demolished and the Santa statue was removed. It was moved to Evansville, IN. In 2016, the statue was restored and put on display. [map]

Santa Claus
Santa Claus, IN
This Santa Claus statue was installed in a park in 1935. This Santa statue is all that remains of that park. The statue is 22 feet tall and was carved from granite. These photos are from 2010. In 2011, the statue was restored by nearby Holiday World. Holiday World opened in 1946 as Santa Claus Land. The statue is now painted its original white color. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. Santa Claus
Santa Claus, IN
These two Santa Claus statues are located in front of Santa's Lodge. They were installed in 1995. It is unknown where they were before that. There is another statue like the one shown in the second row above in Spokane Valley, WA. The White Elephant store still owns the statue and it is displayed during the holidays at other businesses. There is another one of these in Greensboro, NC with a waving arm. I assume others were made although I don't know of any like these anywhere else. For more, see this website. [map]

Santa Claus
North Fort Myers, FL
This Santa Claus statue in North Fort Myers is located in the back parking lot of the Shell Factory at the Holiday House gift shop. I have never seen this statue of Santa holding a book anywhere else but I assume that there were others. In 2024, it was announced that the Shell Factory was closing. [map]

Santa Claus
San Francisco, CA
Santa Claus and Reindeer
South San Francisco, CA
This modern Santa Claus in San Francisco with surfboard statue is displayed at the Wipeout Bar and Grill on Pier 39 during the Christmas season.

This Santa Claus and Reindeer display in South San Francisco is installed on the roof of the See's Candies factory and store during the Christmas season. It has been displayed there since at least 2006 and probably much longer than that. For more, see this website. [map]

Santa Claus [gone]
Trenton, FL
This Santa Claus was installed in front of Trimm Auction Services. I have not seen another statue like this one and suspect that it's modern. In 2022, a gym had opened opened on the property. I don't know if Trimm has moved elsewhere and if this Santa is still on public display.
