Rustic Gardens Golf Indianapolis, IN | |||
Rustic Gardens Golf just might be the oldest mini golf course in the U.S. It was built in 1930 and, except for some minor changes in the early 1960s, remains virtually intact. There are two courses on the two-acre site: one has 18 holes, the other has nine. The courses are scaled-down regular golf (only natural obstacles, no windmills and such). The greens are packed sand and limestone which was common for regular golf courses in the 1930s. The fairways are natural grass. The clubs used originally did not look like today's putters but had special heads to create loft and had wooden shafts. Rustic Gardens Golf also has a modern driving range. [map] |
