The Fresno Community and Convention Center was designed by Robert W. Stevens & Associates. It was built from 1965-1966 and consisted of three buildings: a theater, an exhibit hall, and an arena. The buildings are sheathed in oxidizing steel. The buildings now house the William Saroyan Theatre, Valdez Hall, and the Selland Arena. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map] |

The Fiesta Hall at the San Mateo County Event Center was built in 1948. It was known as the Hall of Flowers and was the first building constructed for what was then the San Mateo County Fairgrounds. This Post Office is located across the street from the Marin County Civic Center described above. It was part of the same design plan executed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It was the first building constructed. There was originally a globe in front of the building. However, it was vandalized and removed. [map] |
