former Foothill Intermediate School Library La Canada Flintridge, CA |
The Foothill Intermediate School Library was designed by Eugene Weston and Keith P. Marston and built in 1960. The building was last used as a library in 1983. It is now used by the La Canada Unified School District for Governing Board meetings. [map] |
La Canada High School La Canada Flintridge, CA |

La Canada High School was designed by Smith, Powell & Morgridge and built in 1963. [map] |
Thurston Middle School Laguna Beach, CA |

Thurston Middle School was built in 1968 as Marie Thurston Junior High. It was designed by Flewelling & Mood. There is one octagonal building and three joined multi-sided buildings. [map] |
La Habra High School La Habra, CA |

La Habra High School was built in 1954. The same design was used for Buena Park High School. [map] |
Salk Institute La Jolla, CA |

Louis Kahn began designing the Salk Institute in 1959. It was built from 1962-1965. The campus overlooks the Pacific Ocean. The mirror image buildings that flank the open-ended courtyard are made of poured-in-place concrete with unfinished teak. There is a narrow stream which flows down the middle of the courtyard. Ring Tank La Jolla, CA |

This Ring Tank is located at the Physiological Research Laboratory at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. It was built in 1965 and is no long used. [map] |
University of La Verne Super Tents La Verne, CA |
|
The University of La Verne's Sports Science & Athletics Pavilion, aka the Super Tents, was built in 1973. Despite their flimsy and temporary appearance, these "tents" are made of fiberglass fabric reinforced with Teflon resin. The two buildings contain a student center, a gym, an art studio, classrooms, a bookstore and a snack bar. The Super Tents were renovated in 2005. [map] |
