Dome House [gone?] Richfield, NC |
Picnic Dome Durham, NC |
This Dome House in Richfield was built in 1989. Comparing my notes about where this house was located to Google Street View, it looks like this may be gone.
The Picnic Dome is located next to the Museum of Life and Science. Does anyone know when it was built and if it had a different use originally? [map] |
Igloo Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop Millers Creek, NC |
|
The Igloo Ice Cream and Sandwich Shop occupies the same type of structure as the Pool Spa Store in Marathon, FL. It was probably installed recently but I'll include the structure here in the mid-century section anyway. [map] |
Bojangles' Coliseum Charlotte, NC |
The Bojangles' Coliseum opened in 1955 as the Charlotte Coliseum. At that time, this was the largest unsupported steel dome in the world. In 1988, the name was changed to the Independence Arena. In 2001, it was known as the Cricket Arena. It has been known as the Bojangles' Coliseum since 2008. [map] |
