ALICO Center Waco, TX |
|
The Amicable Building was constructed in 1911. In 1965, the Amicable Life Insurance Company and American Life Insurance Company merged to become the American-Amicable Life Insurance Company. Between 1964 and 1966, the building was updated as the ALICO Center, housing the insurance company, the ALICO Center Inn, convention facilities, a motor bank, and a five-story parking garage. The hotel went by several names over the years until around 1998 when it and the convention center were demolished and replaced with a parking lot. The top of the ALICO building still bears giant neon letters in front of the original building details. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map] |
