Lucky's Furniture Jackpot had a contemporary sign inspired by the Welcome sign in Las Vegas, NV. This photo is from 2009. By 2012, the business and the sign were gone.
The Kirby & Holloway Family Restaurant was built in 1948. The sign is from the 1950s. The restaurant originally offered drive-in service with car hops. In 2014, the restaurant was devastated by a fire. In 2015, the building was demolished. There were plans to rebuild. In 2021, it was announced that a car wash would be built on the site and that the Kirby sign would be adapted. In 2021, the car wash opened and a new sign was installed. Harry Louie Laundry & Dry Cleaning has a nicely maintained sign. This business has been here since 1949. [map] |

| The Hollywood Motel has been around since at least the 1940s. The first sign shown above is probably from then. The other sign was built later. Around 2009, the "fins" on the sides of the first sign were either removed or a replica sign was built. [map] |

This Taco Bell retained this old plastic sign until 2009 when this photo was taken. By 2010, the sign and location itself were gone. Once common and nationwide, the only sign like this that I know of still in use is in Savannah, GA. There were two others in Los Angeles, CA and Schofield, WI which disappeared in recent years.
The Levy's Jewelers sign combines plastic and neon. It is probably from the 1960s. [map] |
