Waco Hippodrome Theatre Waco, TX |

The Waco Hippodrome Theatre was built in 1913. A fire in 1928 destroyed much of the front of the building. The facade was rebuilt in the Spanish Colonial Revival style at that time and the theatre reopened in 1929 as the Waco Theatre. It closed in the late 1970s. 25th Street Theatre Waco, TX |

The 25th Street Theatre opened in 1945 and closed in 1982. It reopened in 1986 as a nightclub. The theatre has been vacant since 1992. In 2019, the sign was removed and put in storage because of concerns for its stability. The building was demolished and a new building of similar design was built for the fire station. A replica of the sign was installed which reads 25th St. Station. For more, see this website. [map] |

Ritz Theatre Wellington, TX |

The Ritz Theatre opened in 1928 and closed in 1981. In 2003, it was saved by a local group and restoration began. The theatre reopened in 2007 as a live performance venue. The blade sign and marquee are modern replicas of the originals. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map] |

The Capitol Theatre was opened in 1937 as the West Columbia Theatre. By 1941, the name had been changed to the Capitol Theatre. It closed around 1975. The facade was repainted sometime after 2016. This photo is from 2018. The building remains vacant. For more, see this website. [map]
