Firestone South Gate, CA |
This Firestone factory and warehouse was built from 1927-1928. It was designed by Alexander Curlett and Claude Beelman. The plant was used to manufacture smaller tires with the larger ones produced in Akron, OH. Over time, the complex grew to 40 acres. The plant closed in 1980. The building now houses East Los Angeles College. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map] |

This Firestone sign is installed on top of a shed at Lilly's Tire Service which closed in 2020. I believe Pete Lilly's Firestone opened here in 1969. [map] |
Firestone Tracy, CA |
|
This Firestone store goes by the name of Cox Bros. Tire Service. The company was established in 1937. I don't know how old this building is. These photos are from 2014 and 2015. In 2018, the building was repainted gray and white. The sign was also restored. [map] |
TF Tire & Service Tulare, CA |
This Firestone sign is located on the roof of a TF Tire & Service store. This location opened as a Firestone location in 1952. The name "TF" was derived from Tulare Firestone. [map] |
Firestone Van Nuys, CA |

This Firestone building may have been built in 1946. [map] |
Firestone Ventura, CA 2008: |
|
2012: | |
This Firestone location was built in 1930 and is still operating. I believe this Firestone shield logo with a tire and shell as well as the wave-like scroll were unique to this location. The building was repainted between 2009 and 2012. New backlit plastic signs were also installed then. For more, see this website. [map] |
