Salem Sue New Salem, ND |
||||
Salem Sue is 38 feet tall and 50 feet long, making it the world's largest cow. The statue was designed by Dave Oswald of DWO Fiberglass and built in 1974 for nearly $40,000. It overlooks I-94 from the top of the town's tallest hill. For more, see this website. [map] |
Cow [gone] Guelph, ON |
||
The Cow in Guelph stood in front of Lely Canada, a robotic milking company. The cow's markings represent a world map on one side and North America on the other. Inside the company's office, there were several smaller calves with similar markings and another life-sized cow. These photos are from 2007. By 2009, Lely and the cow were gone.
There is a cow in Lynnfield, MA that has these same map paint job. I assume that it came from the same manufacturer as the statues that were in Guelph. However, it's possible that maybe the ones in Canada were sold and this one wound in in Massachusetts. |

Cow Bensalem, PA |

This Calf is installed in front of Moo's Soft Serve. It has been there since at least 2008. It might even have been installed in 2000 when Moo's opened. [map]
This Cow in Bensalem grazes in front of Lou's Farm Mart. [map] The Cows in Salem were located at Salem Feed & Grain when this photo was taken in 2009. There was also a fiberglass rooster and a rearing horse. I think these cows are gone now. |

Cow [gone] Vergennes, VT |
Cows [gone?] Orlando, FL |
|
This approximately life-sized Cow in Vergennes stood in front of the Kennedy Bros. Factory Marketplace. This photo is from 2007. By 2012, the cow was gone.
These life-sized Cows in Orlando stood in front of a medical center when I took these photos in 2005. I thought that there might have been a dairy there previously but a local man swore the cows had only been there a few months. Those heavy chains appeared new although the cows needed paint. I didn't make note of where they were located. Does anyone know where these statues are or were? |
Cows Lawrence Township, NJ |
There are about a dozen, life-sized Cows at Halo Farm. [map] |
Cow Fort Worth, TX |
Cow Carterville, IL |
Cow [gone] Avondale, PA |
This Cow in Fort Worth was installed around 2019 in front of the Vandervoort Dairy. She is named Henryetta after the founder, Henry Carl Vandervoort, Sr. The dairy plant has been owned and operated by Kroger since 1970. [map]
This Cow in Carterville has been installed at the Downtown Dip ice cream stand since it opened in 2022. [map] This Cow in Avondale was located at El Rancho Meat & Produce. It had been painted the colors of the Mexican flag. The restaurant occupies the previous Avon Grove Diner, a Mountain View from 1952, which is now covered with wooden shingles. This photo is from 2007. By 2009, the wagon was still there but the cow and horse were gone. |
Cow Winter Garden, FL |
Cow Denver, CO |
Cow Kalispell, MT |
This Cow in Winter Garden has been there since 2009. "Violet" is the mascot for Purple Cow Productions which is located in the building behind her. [map]
This Cow in Denver is located between Bonnie Brae Ice Cream and the Bonnie Brae Wine & Liquor Mart. It has been there since at least 2011. This statue is from the same mold as the ones in Winter Garden, Fort Worth, and Avondale. [map] This Cow in Kalispell was installed at the Blue Cow Car Wash around 2008. [map] |
Mattress Ranch [gone] Chehalis, WA |
|
Mattress Ranch Olympia, WA |
||
Mattress Ranch Port Orchard, WA |
||
Mattress Ranch has four locations in Alaska and four locations in Washington. Around 1999, these stores began displaying the ranch theme with plywood animal cut-outs. Since around 2005, many of these locations have also been featuring an eye-catching abundance of cow and other animal statues. The Chehalis location had closed by 2023 and the statues were all gone.
The Olympia location has also closed. These statues are probably gone. [map] The Port Orchard location is still open. [map] There are locations in Aberdeen, WA, Parkland, WA, Puyallup, WA and Fairbanks, AK that are still open and have some cow statues. |
