National Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame Hayward, WI |
|
The Freshwater Fishing Hall of Fame is a museum with all things related to fishing including lures, rods and reels, outboard motors, mounted fish, and a video theatre. In addition to the displays, there is a cute children's playground with a fish theme. But what is most impressive is their "Sea of Fishes" collection of fiberglass fish.
The muskie is the largest fiberglass structure in the world (4 1/2 stories tall, 140 feet long, and 10 feet wide). It was created in 1978 by Dave Oswald of DWO Fiberglass. There is a half-block long museum inside and an observation deck in the fish's open mouth. The mouth will hold 20 people at one time. Surrounding the muskie are nine other fish including a rainbow trout, a walleye, a bluegill, a Coho salmon, a perch, a smallmouth and a largemouth bass. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map] |
