This former Fire Department was built in 1931. The building now houses the Vine Street Studio, an art gallery with exhibits from local African-American artists. For more, see this website. [map]

This former Katz Drug store appears to be from the 1930s or 1940s. The building appeared to be vacant when this photo was taken in 2012. It was still vacant in 2017. It had been demolished by 2018.

Liberty Memorial Tower
Kansas City, MO
The Liberty Memorial Tower was designed by Harold Van Buren Magonigle and built from 1921-1926. The four, 40-foot-tall sculptures at the top were carved by Robert Aitken. The "Guardian Spirits" represent Honor, Courage, Patriotism, and Sacrifice. At night, the Flame of Inspiration, created by steam and lighting effects, is emitted from the top of the tower. Katz Drug Building

The Katz Drug Building was designed by Clarence Kivett and completed in 1938. It later housed Osco Drugs until 2006. The building has been vacant since then. In 2022, renovation of the building began. A multi-story apartment building has been added to the back. [map]

This unidentified building in Kansas City is across the street from the former Katz Drug described above. The upper floor is now occupied by "Harling's Upstairs Bar and Grill" and there are other tenants on the ground floor. Does anyone know the history of this building? For more, see this website.
