former Woolworth [gone] Haverhill, MA |
||
This former Woolworth opened in 1949 and closed in the early 1970s. The building remained vacant after that. The interior remained intact and included the original 50-foot-long lunch counter with stools. There was talk for years of converting the building into condos and shops or demolishing it. In 2009, after a chunk of the building fell off, scaffolding was put in place for safety. These photos are from 2010. The building was demolished in 2015. |
former Woolworth Taunton, MA |
This former Woolworth was covered with a plywood "slipcover" until around 2008. This photo is from 2009. Sometime after 2012, the building's details were gone. [map] |
former Woolworth Waltham, MA |
|
The red panel signs on this former Woolworth appear to be the originals with new signs placed on top. A Woolworth opened in town in 1905 and closed in 1997. That was most likely not this building which looks like it was built in the 1920s. It's possible that it was remodeled then. [map] |
