| Mike's Famous, a Harley-Davidson dealer, restaurant, and museum, opened in 1999. It was built on the site of a former Howard Johnson's from 1957. Mike's restored the HoJo's gatehouse and used it as a take-out food stand. It was later used for storage and as a staff office. By 2018, Mike's Famous was closed. By 2019, the gatehouse building had been demolished. For more, see this website. |

This Howard Johnson's in Ocala was constructed in the mid-1960s just north of the building shown above. It was originally an EconoLodge and became a Howard Johnson's in the late 1990s. In 2016, it was renovated by Wyndham Worldwide in the "Renew" program with a nod to the classic Howard Johnson's design. The buildings and motel rooms were painted in the orange and turquoise color scheme. This replica Simple Simon weathervane was added to the lobby/restaurant roof. [map]
