2009:
In 2003, this Howard Johnson's restaurant was being remodeled. The Lamplighter sign is gone now. In 2009, the building was still vacant. The hotel has since reopened as a Ramada Inn. By 2014, both the hotel and restaurant buildings were vacant. In 2017, the buildings were demolished. For more, see this website.

Lake George, NY
This Howard Johnson's opened in 1953. It was the last location in the chain to feature the finned cupola and the Simple Simon and Pieman weathervane. This restaurant was not related to the Howard Johnson Tiki Resort just down the street. It closed in 2011 and then reopened in 2015. It closed again in 2022. This Howard Johnson's opened in 1956. This photo is from 2007. In 2015, the restaurant closed. The building now houses the 'Dack Shack. For more, see this website. [map]

New York, NY
This Howard Johnson's opened in 1959 in Times Square. It was left virtually untouched both inside and out until it closed in 2005. The building was sold for $100 million and demolished. It has since been replaced with an American Eagle Outfitters store. For more, see this website.

Niagara Falls, NY
This Howard Johnson's restaurant was remodeled into the Three Sisters Trading Post sometime between 1998 and 2002. The restaurant and motel which are still located next door were built in 1965. Both buildings are currently vacant. For more, see this website. [map]
