Scotty's Drive-in Aberdeen, SD 2008: |
|
2022: | |
Scotty's Drive-in opened in 1962 and was the first built in the chain. By 1966, there were seven locations in at least six states. The chain disbanded in 1968 and the surviving locations began operating independently. At some point this location's rooftop sign was removed. In 2009, it became Daddy's Bar & Grill and the sign was adapted. In 2015, the name and sign were changed back to Scotty's. The sign was repaired and the plastic "flying saucers" were recreated. The letters on the sign are now backlit plastic. [map]
The other three surviving locations are in Bismarck, ND; Idaho Falls, ID; and Scottsbluff, NE. There were other locations in Mitchell, SD; Sioux City, IA; Glendive, MT; Helena, MT, and possibly others. If you know of any others, I'd love to hear about them. |

Nick's Hamburger Shop opened in 1929. For more, see this website. [map] |
Burger Time Sioux Falls, SD |
B&G Milky Way Sioux Falls, SD |
|
Burger Time was founded in 1987 with the first location in Fargo, ND. There are eight location now in Minnesota, South Dakota, and North Dakota. I don't believe any of the other locations have a peaked roof like this which makes me wonder if this building wasn't adapted from another chain restaurant. [map]
The B&G Milky Way opened around 1954. There are now four other B&G Milkyway locations in the Sioux Falls area. For more, see this website. [map] |
