former Phillips 66 station

former Phillips 66 station
Vandalia, IL
This former Phillips 66 station in East St. Louis last housed a bar. It has been vacant for many years. [map]

This former Phillips 66 station in Vandalia currently has signs for Circle H Welding and Kick Ass Graphics. I don't know if either business is still there. [map]

2024:
This former Phillips 66 station now houses Zeig's Auto Sales. [map]

former Phillips 66 station
Nauvoo, IL
This former Phillips 66 station now houses Vick's Uptown Service, an auto repair business. This building has the same style office as the one above in Zeigler but with a shorter canopy. [map]

former Cities Service station
St. Charles, IL
This former Cities Service station was built in 1963. The building housed a Marathon station in 2008. When this photo was taken in 2009, it was Kevin's Auto Repair and the pumps had been removed. By 2012, the station had been repainted tan with red trim. The canopy design is similar to Union 76 but I don't know if those stations were built in Illinois. The canopy doesn't seem to have enough "lift" for it to have been a Phillips 66 station. Does anyone know what brand was here originally? For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

former Gulf station
Ramsey, IL
This former Gulf station has been vacant for many years. [map]

BP station
Chicago, IL
The BP station was built in 1971 as a Standard Oil station. It was later known as the Archway Amoco station. It features curved steel beams. The white roof was found to be too reflective for neighboring apartment dwellers and was later covered with tar and gravel. For more, see this website. [map]

Grandt's Shell station
Arlington Heights, IL
The 15-foot-long rocket on top of the Grandt's Shell station canopy was built by the owner in 1960. It was built from oil drums. The station is probably from the 1950s. The station closed in 2020 and the property was sold to the city. I assume that the rocket and station will be gone soon if they are even still there. [map]
