Charlie's Garage
Chester, MA
Charlie's Garage was originally a Ford-Lincoln showroom. Somewhere along the line, it became a gas station and repair shop. At some point, the building also housed Carm's Restaurant. The station was still pumping gas in 2004. However, the business was closed and the building for sale when these photos were taken in 2011. In 2020, the building began housing the revived Carm's Restaurant and Charlie's Ice Cream. [map]

former station
Westfield, MA
This former station appeared to be vacant when this photo was taken in 2011. The building previously housed an appliance store. By 2014, the windows were boarded up. The small tile-roofed station at the center is gone now and other exterior details from the larger building are gone. [map]

Perley Burrill Fuel Oil station [gone]
Lynnfield, MA
This Perley Burrill Fuel Oil station claimed to be "America's oldest filling station". I assume they meant the oldest station still in operation but I don't know if this claim was true. I believe this station was built around 1939. These photos are from 2011. By 2013, the station was closed. The building was demolished in 2017.

Tracey's Service

Tracey's Service is a gas station and towing service. Does anyone know the history of this building? [map]

former station
Pittsfield, MA
This former station originally sold fuel and range oil. The owners added a gas pump in the 1920s. In the 1950s and 1960s, the station was known as Frank Gogan's Mobil. Sometime after that, it became a CITGO. At some point between 2002 and 2004 when the first two photos were taken, it had become a Shell station. By 2011 when the third photo was taken, the building was vacant and the pumps had been removed. The building remains vacant. [map]

former station
Lynn, MA
This former station last housed Walsh's Garage. This photo is from 2009. The building was still vacant in 2017. In 2018, the building was renovated and now houses Josue Auto Body. [map]

Tony's Gasoline
Dorchester, MA
Tony's Gasoline was also known as Tony's Auto & Cycle Center when these photos were taken in 2010. The building has apparently been remodeled a number of times. A worker there said the station had originally been a blacksmith's shop. By 2014, the building was housing US Auto Care and gas was still being sold. By 2019, the pumps were gone and the lot was surrounded with chain link fencing. The building is still there. [map]

former station [gone]
Brookline, MA
2004: 2009:
This former station was built in the 1930s. The pumps were still there in 2004. In 2007, the station was restored and converted into a B. Good restaurant. That business closed around 2010. From 2010-2013, the building housed the Cognac Bistro. In 2013, the building began housing the Shan-A-Punjab Indian restaurant. The building was demolished in 2018.
