former Texaco station Lodgepole, NE 2006: |
|
2022: |
Although not "icebox" stations with porcelain enamel panels, this station and the one below still bear Texaco stars and stripes. There may have been porcelain panels originally on one or both of these buildings.
This former Texaco station in Lodgepole looks like it is used for storage. The remaining Texaco letters have been removed from and the three stars on the front of the building have been moved to one side. [map] |
former Texaco station Sutherland, NE |
This former Texaco station in Sutherland also appeared vacant when this photo was taken in 2012. There was probably another building, now gone, which accompanied this service bay building. [map] |
former Texaco station Omaha, NE |
|
This former Texaco station now houses Griswold Service, an auto repair shop. [map] |
former station Chappell, NE |
This former station in Chappell probably housed a Cities Service originally. An addition to the roof was made at some point. The building most recently housed a Sweden Creme ice cream stand which had closed by 2006. The building remains vacant. [map] |
former station [gone] Aurora, NE |
former station Columbus, NE |
former station Beatrice, NE |
These former stations were probably built as Champlin stations. There are many other examples of this folded plate canopy design in Oklahoma. By 2018, this canopy in Aurora was gone. By 2021, the building was gone as well. The Columbus canopy remains but the building has been remodeled. The The Beatrice building appears to be the original. It now houses Beatrice Auto Sales. former station Holdrege, NE |
|
This former station had Conoco memorabilia inside the office when these photos were taken in 2022. However, I believe the building was not in use otherwise. I don't know if this station was ever used as a Conoco or if it was just dressed up as one. By 2023, the Conoco stuff was gone and the building was vacant. [map] |
former station Sidney, NE |
former station [gone] Grand Island, NE |
The former station in Sidney was probably a Standard Oil station originally. By 2022, the building had been remodeled. The bathroom doors on the left were gone and a canopy was installed over the office. [map]
This former station in Grand Island now houses Swede's Gun Shop and G.I. Loan & Pawn. The original gas station building was either rebuilt or expanded and remodeled. By 2021, the canopy was gone. |
former Sinclair station Sidney, NE |
|
This former Sinclair station was probably built in the early 1960s. The building was housing Havorka Motors in 2012. It appears to be vacant now. [map] |
former Phillips 66 station Bellevue, NE |
This former Phillips 66 station now houses Bullseye Hail Repair. [map] |
former Phillips 66 station Kimball, NE |
former Phillips 66 station Scottsbluff, NE |
This former Phillips 66 station in Kimball recently housed Lincoln Highway Auto Repair. In 2022, the building had been renovated and appeared to be vacant. [map]
This former Phillips 66 station in Scottsbluff now houses Calder's Auto Center. [map] |
