Dr. Sid's Hands Marietta, GA |
This 18-foot-tall, bronze sculpture of Dr. Sid's Hands was created by Stephen Smith. It was installed at the entrance to Life University, a chiropractic college, in 1999. The hands were modeled after those of Dr. Sid E. Williams, the chiropractor who established the college in 1974. He was a fan of Oral Roberts and this sculpture was probably inspired by the Praying Hands in Tulsa (see above). Dr. Sid's Hands are in a "toggle recoil adjustment" pose and there are two Georgia Tech football rings on his fingers. For more, see this website. [map]

Stella's Diner features a fist holding utensils over the entrance. The restaurant has been Stella's since 2001 and the fist sculpture is probably from then. [map]
Skate World featured this hand and globe on its roof. I don't know if this sculpture was there from a previous business. This photo is from 2009. Skate World closed and this hand and globe were removed. This appears to be the same sculpture as the one in Pana, IL below.

Hands Pana, IL |
These two Hand sculptures are installed in a field. The owner, Joe Coleman, saw the empty hand in a cow pasture in Ramsey, IL in 2013. He bought it later, restored it, and installed it at this location in 2016. The hand is made of fiberglass over a metal frame. It was originally located in Chicago. The hand with the globe was installed later. I believe this is the same sculpture that was installed in Kankakee, IL described above. [map]
