Thunderbird Inn
Savannah, GA
The Thunderbird Inn opened in 1964. The motel and neon sign were completely restored from 2004-2005. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

former Downtowner Motor Inn
Savannah, GA
The Downtowner Motor Inn was built in 1964 as part of a nationwide chain. It closed in 1985. In 1990, the motel was adapted for the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD)'s Oglethorpe House, a residence hall. For more, see this website. [map]

former Georgia Welcome Center
Savannah, GA
The Georgia Welcome Center was built in 1963. It may have housed an ice cream store later on. It now houses the Savannah Visitors Center. [map]

Savannah, GA
The Savannah Blue Print Co. was founded in 1926. This building was designed by Helfrich & Grantham and built in 1955. [map]

Georgia Welcome Center
Sylvania, GA
This Georgia Welcome Center is located at the stateline of Georgia and South Carolina on US 301. The was Georgia's first Welcome Center and was built in 1962. This was before I-95 was built. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. [map]

One Hour Martinizing
Tucker, GA
The nationwide One Hour Martinizing dry cleaning chain was established in 1949. I believe these buildings were built in the early 1960s. This building has housed Main Street Cleaners since at least 2007. While there are still a few locations with neon One Hour Cleaners signs, this is the only Time to Martinize clock that I know of. There is another former Martizining building with the same design in Lawrenceville, GA. There are other buildings like this in North Carolina and Virginia.

Del-Mar Motel
Valdosta, GA
