Nautilus Motor Inn Woods Hole, MA |
|
The Nautilus Motor Inn's Dome Restaurant was built in 1953. The geodesic dome is 54 feet in diameter. It was designed by students in a studio taught by Buckminster Fuller at MIT and is the oldest Fuller dome still in existence. The first one was built in Dearborn, MI to enclose the Ford Motor Rotunda but that one burned down. The dome had not been in use for many years. In 2021, restoration of the dome began.
