| Plantation Inn building [gone] Chicopee, MA |

| The Plantation Inn was designed by Morris Lapidus and built in 1958. It was known as either the Chicopee Motor Inn or the Chicopee Hotel. It later became the Schine Inn, the Treadway Inn, and the Quality Inn. In 1993, it was renamed the Plantation Inn. The round building with the folded plate roof shown above had not been used for many years. The wood ceiling, light fixtures, and even the carpeting and drapes were all original. It was originally used for conferences, weddings, and banquets. This photo is from 2010. In 2013, the property was sold. The building was demolished in 2016. The giant statue that stood in front of the hotel was moved. For more, see this website. |
