The Northland Shopping Center was built in the late 1950s and closed around 1990. The abandoned sign is still located behind the redeveloped shopping center. By 2022, it was laying on the ground. The sign is gone now. For more, see this website.
The Admiral Place Shopping Center as probably built in the 1950s. [map] The Park Lane Shopping Center opened in 1956 and this sign appeared to be from then. It obviously had neon originally. In 2019, the shopping center was demolished and the sign was gone. |

The Lockheed Shopping Center sign originally had a revolving white beacon light on top. In 2008, the sign was hit by a truck. In 2009, the sign was removed.
The Lakeland Shopping Center was built in 1958 and this sign is from then. The sign originally had an incredible top part. [map] Comanche Center opened around 1969. This sign appears to be from then. [map] |

The Park Plaza Shops sign was probably from the 1950s. It was damaged by wind in 2017 and has been removed. The Park Estates Shopping Center was completed in 1951 and this sign was built then. [map] |

The Powell Villa Shopping Center sign was probably built in the late 1950s or early 1960s. The bulb in the star probably flashed at night. By 2018, the sign had been painted brown. By 2023, there was a new modern sign. For more, see this website. The Parkway Plaza Shopping Center sign was probably from the 1960s. In 2015, there were plans for a major redevelopment of the shopping center. By 2017, the sign was gone and a Walmart had been built on the property. The stores at The Mart shopping center have changed but this sign remains. [map] |

The Deerpath Shopping Center was built around 1955. The supporting panels were being repainted in 2017. The top part of the sign must have revolved originally. [map] |

The Preston Royal Shopping Center was built from 1955-1956 and this sign was built then. It is about 30 feet tall from the top of the crown to the bottom ring. In 2019, tornados significantly damaged many Preston Royal stores and toppled this sign into an adjacent tree. It was repaired and reinstalled the following year by Texas Electrical and North Texas Neon, both located in Garland. "Preston Royal" is lit in gold, "Shopping Center" in white, and the rings in pink. The crown has bulbs on top. [map]

The Skillman Live Oak Center shopping center was built in 1948. This sign may be from then. This photo is from 2011. Around 2012, a replica sign was installed. The neon tubing which was installed directly on the panels was replaced with channel letters. There is also less neon on the ball on top. For more, see this website. [map]
The Ferguson Village Shopping Center was built in 1957. This sign appears to be from then. [map] The Kiestwood Village Shopping Center was built in the mid- or late 1950s. This sign is from then. The Garland Shopping Center was built in 1952. The buildings have been demolished but this sign remains. New stores were built on the property and Walmart agreed to maintain this sign. It was restored and relit in 2015. [map]

The Westbury Centerette shopping center was vacant except for a laundromat when this photo was taken in 2011. It was built in 1962. There was a clock on top of the sign that was blown off during Hurricane Ike in 2008. The shopping center was demolished in 2015. The sign was gone by 2016.
