This former Kwikee Mart gas station and convenience store sign appears to be from the 1960s. It was repainted and the text adapted on one side by the Pit Stop sometime after 2012. For more, see this website. [map]
The Whitman Hotel was built in 1905 as the Hotel Nicollet. Two floors were added in 1914. This sign is probably from the 1940s or 1950s. When the building was restored around 2009, the sign was restored and installed on the back of the building. The "Hotel" at the top of the sign was replaced with "The." The Coffee Shop sign at the bottom of the sign is now missing. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map] This Cowboy Oil Co. gas station has been closed since the 1970s but this sign remains. The Oasis Bar opened in 1946. This sign was installed around 1950. The panels were repainted in 2021. These photos are from 2022. For more, see this website. [map]
The 210 Club sign was originally installed on the side of the building which houses the Oasis Bar. Around 1982, the sign was removed from the spot above the side entrance and stashed in the basement. In 2021, the sign was restored by Relight the Night. For more, see this website. [map] Garrett Freightlines was established in Pocatello in 1913. The Fashion Cleaners sign might be from the 1950s. A barber shop moved into the space around 2018. The sign's neon was removed and the panels were painted white. For more, see this website. [map]

This IOOF (Independent Order of Odd Fellows) sign is probably from the 1940s or 1950s. By 2017, the sign had been repainted and the neon repaired by Relight the Night. [map] |

Red's Gateway Key & Cycle was established in 1938. This sign might be from the 1950s. The building was destroyed by a fire in the 1990s. The sign was reinstalled at the original site by Relight the Night. [map]
The Buster Brown Shoes sign was found in the basement of the Pioneer Building. It was restored by Relight the Night and installed downtown in 2020. These signs were mass-produced and displayed all over the country. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map] Harrison's Jewelers is long gone but this sign remains. It might be from the 1950s. Relight the Night would like to restore it at some point. [map] The 15-foot-tall Bannock Star was originally installed the roof of the Bannock Regional Memorial Hospital. It was removed in 2016 just before the building was demolished. It was then restored by YESCO in coordination with Relight the Night and installed on the side of the Portneuf Health Trust parking garage. For more, see this website. [map] |

The Indian Chief sign was built in the 1930s for a Wasatch Oil gas station in Pocatello. There were originally two panels with the Indian Chief facing opposite directions. The other panel is located in Pomeroy, WA. The sign was installed at Pocatello High School in 1951. It had not been lit since at least the 1970s. In 2016, it was restored by the Blaze Sign Company working with Relight the Night. In 2022, the sign was moved to Main Street. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]
The Paris sign is from at least the mid-1950s. There is a twin sign on the other side of the corner. The panels were originally painted green and the store housed a women's clothing store. It now houses Vintage Vinyl & Antiques. The panels were restored and relit in 2017 by Relight the Night. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map] |

Meyers Shoe Repair opened in 1956. This sign was restored in 2014 just before this photo was taken. For more, see this website. [map]
The Chopstick Cafe sign is probably from the 1950s or 1960s. The sign was restored in 2017 by YESCO working with Relight the Night. In 2019, it was announced that the building would soon be occupied by Off the Rails Brewing. The Chopstick Cafe sign was going to be moved to the back of the building. However, that didn't happen and the sign wound up in a private collection. Relight the Night is actively working to get the sign back and have it displayed near a new park in town. Pocatello Electric opened here in 1902. The sign is probably from the 1950s. The sign was altered considerably between the 2008 and 2014 photos above. The neon was removed, the sign was repainted, and backlit plastic letters were added to the south-facing side. For more, see this website. [map]
The Idaho Motel sign is probably from the early 1950s. The panels with the state are backlit with a neon border at the back. The wording was changed at some point from "Motel" to "Apartments." The sign was repainted in 2014 just before these photos were taken. In 2024, the sign was removed and donated to Relight the Night. It will be restored and installed downtown. The Master Muffler chain was established in 1963 and now has more than 20 locations in Utah and Idaho. I believe that this is the only location in Idaho with these signs but there are a lot more in Utah. [map] |
