The El Rancho Grande sign was built in 1950 and installed at the restaurant's original location. It was installed at the current location in 1953. It's not known when the arrow was added to the sign. The sign was completely restored in 2009. The neon is static while the bulb arrow flashes. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

Moody's Jewelry opened in 1944 and these signs were built then by the Wally Werr Sign Co. from then. There are four other Moody's locations in Tulsa but this is the original one. For more, see this website. [map]

C & C Tile & Carpet opened in 1957. This sign is probably from then. [map]

The Pioneer Cleaners & Laundry sign is probably from the 1950s. It looks like the text was changed at some point. The figures are based on the Pioneer Woman statue in Ponca City, OK. [map]

Coney I-Lander is a regional chain based in Tulsa. "Coneys" are hot dogs topped with chili, cheese, onions, and mustard. The Coney I-Lander's first location, then known as "Coney Island", opened in downtown Tulsa in 1926. The first photo was taken at the Admiral Place location which was originally built as a Pizza Hut. This photo was taken in 2011. By 2018, the sign was replaced with a much smaller plastic sign. [map]

The second photo above was taken at the E. 11th St. location. That sign is still there. [map]

Jim's Coney Island opened in the early 1950s. This sign might have been from then or slightly later. Jim's closed at the end of 2019 and the sign is gone. For more, see this website.

The Brookshire Motel opened in 1950 and this sign is from then. In 2019, the motel was badly damaged by fire. It was demolished in 2020. The sign was removed around 2021.

Hank's Hamburgers was established in 1949. It moved to this location in 1955. This sign may be from then. [map]

Ann's Bakery was established in 1938. These signs were built around 1950. There was another pole sign from around 1946 that is gone now. In 2018, it was announced that the bakery was closing. The signs were removed and put up for sale in 2020. For more, see this website.

The Vernon A.M.E. Church is located in the area previously known as Black Wall Street. During the 1921 race massacre, the church was burned to the ground and rebuilt. The neon sign was installed around 1945. The panels are covered with plexiglass to protect the neon tubing. For more, see this website. [map]

The Clay's Motor Co. sign appears to be from the 1950s. The sign probably advertised for another used car dealer or business originally. This photo is from 2011. By 2014, the sign had been repainted for CS Motors. Later that year, the sign had been repainted again for Luis Balan Motors. In 2015, the sign was repainted again for CS Motors. In 2016, the name and phone number had been painted over again. [map]

The Bob Marshall TV & VCR Repair sign has been updated a bit. It reads "Radio" under "VCR" and "Marshall" conceals the original business name. This sign is probably from the 1950s. [map]

Crown Office Furnishings was established in 1955. This store was vacant when this photo was taken in 2006. The sign was later demolished.

The Desert Hills Motel opened in 1957 and this sign is probably from then. The sign was restored in 2004. In 2016, bulbs were installed in the yellow arrow. They must have been there originally. [map]

Doall was founded in 1927 as a producer of cutting machines and saw blades. The company is still in business. This sign hung above Jim's Appliances. The building previously housed Doall Industrial Supply. The sign was probably from the 1950s or 1960s. Jim's closed and this sign was removed around 2020. There is another sign like this in San Diego, CA. There were other DoAll signs in East McKeesport, PA.

The Oasis Motel sign is probably from the mid-1960s. A postcard from 1962 shows a simpler sign. In 2024, a grant was awarded to restore the sign. [map]

The Western Capri Motel and sign were built in the 1950s. In 2006, this neon sign was replaced with a plastic box sign. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2.

The Tulsa Auto Court, Oil Capitol Motel, and Will Rogers Motor Court signs were recreated and installed in a small park in 2020. The long-lost, original signs were built in the 1950s. These signs were produced by the A-max Sign Co. The panels are covered with plexiglass to protect the neon tubing. [map]
