This Chicken is located at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds. Known as "Petaluma Pete", the statue was built by Harold Coombes. The statue may have been inspired by the statue that was built in 1918 by Albert Welchert for the Egg Day parade. In 1921, the statue was donated to the Chamber of Commerce. In 1938, the statue was blown up and destroyed by vandals. That statue was replaced by a standing chicken statue which is long gone now. For more, see this website. [map] |

Chicken Monument Gainesville, GA |

The Chicken in Rossville was installed on top of the canopy roof of Happy Motors, a former gas station. Unfortunately, the angle of the sun did not allow me to photograph him all that well in 2005. He was a very bright yellow and probably about 10 feet tall. The statue was there in 2007 but gone by 2015.
This Big Chicken in Gainesville is 25 feet tall and made of welded metal. Around 2005, it was installed on the roof of the Main Street Market on the downtown square. It is draped in lights and lit during the Christmas holiday season. In 2017, the Big Chicken was dismantled and rebuilt. For more, see this website. [map] This Chicken Monument in Gainesville was installed in Poultry Park in 1977. The city claims to be the poultry capital of the world. [map] |

This Chicken framework is 62 feet tall, making it what was to be the world's largest topiary chicken. The frame was going to be covered with plants. These photos are from 2021. It was expected to be completed at the end of 2021 and the room inside was intended as a rental unit. However, after spending more than $300,000 for this initial construction and with a similar amount projected to complete it, the project has been abandoned. For more, see this website. [map] |
