Beep's Burgers

2014: 2016:
Beep's Burgers opened in 1962. The neon rocket sign was restored in 2015. In 2024, it was removed to be repainted again. For more, see this website. [map]

Bill's Take Out
Santa Maria, CA
Bill's Take Out opened in 1954 as Ed's Take Out. A second location opened later that year in San Luis Obispo with the same name, sign, and building design. That location is gone. The Santa Maria location became Bill's Take Out in 1956. In 2024, the sign was removed for a complete restoration. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

Big Bopper Drive-in

The Big Bopper Drive-in has been around since around the 1990s. I don't know if it was another drive-in before that. [map]

Mearle's College Drive-in
Visalia, CA

2008:
2013 and 2014:
Mearle's College Drive-in opened in 1940 as Tad's Drive-in. In the 1950s, it operated as Nielson's Drive-in. It became Mearle's in 1961. While it was Mearle's, the building was painted pink and aluminum awnings were added. Mearle's closed in 2006. In 2011, the building was renovated and reopened as the Habit Burger Grill. The neon "Mearle's" and "Drive-in" pylon signs were saved and are now in storage at the Tulare County Historical Society museum in Tulare, CA (second row, third photo above).
