This Tastee-Freez building design used the same style sign as those shown above at the former locations in Huntington Beach and Anaheim. They appear to be from the 1960s. If anyone knows of other still-existing examples of this building design, I'd love to hear from you.
The former Tastee-Freez in Rancho Cordova now houses a Tugboat Fish & Chips. [map] The former Tastee-Freez in Costa Mesa now houses a TK Burgers. [map] |

former Tastee-Freez El Cajon, CA |
This former Tastee-Freez now houses Silva's Taco Shop. I have not seen a Tastee-Freez building like this before but the adapted sign is immediately recognizable. The original Tastee-Freez signs of this design had bits of snow on top and hanging down. This is the only one left that has that. [map] |

This former Tastee-Freez was here by 1969 and operating as Guy's Tastee-Freez. There was originally an ice cream cone on top of the sign like those shown above. This Tastee-Freez was still operating in 1976. I don't know when it closed. The business was housing the Route 66 Drive-In & Diner in the early 2000s. By 2016, the building was housing Teriyaki House II. These photos are from 2017. By 2018, the building was housing the Oasis Mediterranean restaurant. This building did not appear to have the peaked roof like the other buildings shown above with the same style signs. It looks like it had the slots on the side of the roof like those shown at the top of this page. However, I have never seen canopies like these at other Tastee-Freez locations. [map] |
