I have only seen the Tastee-Freez buildings with this A-frame design shown below in California and Oregon. It seemed to be an attempt to branch out in a more serious way beyond ice cream. The buildings appear to be from the 1960s. |

This Tastee-Freez is the most intact A-frame location that I know of. It still operates as a Tastee-Freez and has an original sign. I believe these signs preceded the ones like the one in Huntington Beach shown below. [map] |

This Tastee-Freez housed Joe's Deli, a Chinese take-out stand, in 2008. By 2011, the business had become The Seafood Zone. In 2019, the building was housing Tacos & Beer Mexican Cuisine. In 2022, it briefly housed Sweetness Water Ice. It now houses Mexihanas Hibachi Grill. [map] |

The first Tastee-Freez shown above in Anaheim opened in 1955. This A-frame building replaced the original building in 1966. It has housed a series of different Mexican restaurants in recent years. [map]
The second Tastee-Freez shown above in Anaheim last housed the Super Teriyaki Bowl. The building was demolished around 2017. This Tastee-Freez in North Hollywood is now occupied by Jimmy's Burgers. [map] |

This Tastee-Freez in Pasadena housed the Burger Shack when this photo was taken in 2013. In 2014, the building was housing a Tom's Family Restaurant. In 2015, the building was demolished.
This Tastee-Freez in Temple City is now home to Olympic Donuts. The original sign's ovals used to read "Freez", "Tacos" and "Burgers". [map] |

As of 2014, the building was housing the New Towne Grill. The text on the sign had been changed again. By 2018, the building was housing the Unico Pollo Taquero #2. [map] |
