Arnold Palmer Putting Course [gone] Birmingham, AL |
||
This Arnold Palmer Putting Course had been abandoned for many years. However, after these photos were taken in 2007, the greens were replaced. It's possible that the course is or was still in use by the Elks Lodge which owned the property and was located behind the course. By 2019, the property was developed for housing and the Elks Lodge was also gone.
I believe the Arnold Palmer Putting Course chain was founded in the mid-1960s. I only know of two other courses left in the U.S. However, there may be other courses out there going by other names. "Dottie's Putting Course", in Salt Lake City, UT, closed in 2009. "Jackson Golf World", in Jackson, MS is also gone. There was another Arnold Palmer Putting Course in Rockford, IL that was demolished around 2005. If you know of any others, I'd love to hear about them. There are still several left in the UK, now going by the name of Crazy Golf. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, 3, and 4. |
