Lincoln Theatre Lincoln, IL |

The Lincoln Theatre was built in 1922. It was twinned in 1985 and later turned into a four-screen. By 2016, it had eight screens. It closed in 2020. The theatre lives on in the buildings to the left (see immediately below). [map] |

The VIP Lincoln Grand 6 was built from the lots adjacent to the west of the Lincoln Theatre described above. From 2015-2016, four buildings were demolished and replaced with this one. [map] |

The Roxy Theatre was built in 1937 and operated until around 1957. In the 1970s, it was renovated as a nightclub. This marquee sign was added to the building around 2017 in a style similar to the original. In 2018, the building reopened as an event venue known as the ROXY Lockport. For more, see this website. The DuPage Theatre was designed by Rapp & Rapp in an atmospheric style. It opened in 1928 and was triplexed in the late 1980s. It closed in 2001 and was demolished in 2007. For more, see this website. |

The Illinois Theatre was built in 1873 as an Opera House. In 1912, it became the Chandler Theatre. In 1918, it became the Illinois Theatre. The first movie was shown in 1919. In 1935, the exterior was remodeled to its current look. The theatre was twinned in the late 1970s. It closed in 2005 and reopened in 2006 as The Forum with live performances and special events.
