Lincoln Theatre
Lincoln, IL
The Lincoln Theatre was built in 1922. It was twinned in 1985 and later turned into a four-screen. By 2016, it had eight screens. It closed in 2020. The theatre lives on in the buildings to the left (see immediately below). [map]

VIP Lincoln Grand 6
Lincoln, IL
The VIP Lincoln Grand 6 was built from the lots adjacent to the west of the Lincoln Theatre described above. From 2015-2016, four buildings were demolished and replaced with this one. [map]

The DuPage Theatre was designed by Rapp & Rapp in an atmospheric style. It opened in 1928 and was triplexed in the late 1980s. It closed in 2001 and was demolished in 2007. For more, see this website.

The Illinois Theatre opened in 1912 as the Chandler Theatre. It was renamed the Illinois Theatre in 1918. This exterior is from a 1935 remodeling. The theatre was twinned in the late 1970s. It closed in 2005 and reopened in 2006 as The Forum which hosts live performances and special events. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map]

Time Theater
Mattoon, IL
The Time Theater opened in 1910 as the K Theater. In 1938, it was destroyed by fire and rebuilt and renamed. The theater features a glazed terracotta exterior and neon marquee complete with clock. The theatre closed in the 1980s. In 2002, it became a concert venue and banquet hall. In 2006, the building was purchased by a church for live performances and other activities. In 2018, the theatre was sold and it remains vacant. These photos are from 2024. For more, see this website. [map]

The Rivoli Theatre opened in the 1920s. It closed in 1998 and is now used for occasional concerts. For more, see this website. [map]

The Granada Theatre was designed by the Boller Brothers and opened in 1937. In 1981, it was split into two screens. The theatre is now used as a performing arts venue and is available for private events. For more, see this website. [map]
