These two pairs of Moai are 18 feet tall and made of fiberglass. They were located at C.P. Three, a movie prop warehouse. The statues were previously installed in front of the building. They were then moved around the side of the building, behind a chain link fence. These photos are from 2013. By 2015, these Moai were gone. For more, see this website.
The Tiki-Ti bar opened in 1961. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map] The Kelbo's Hawaiian Bar-B-Q restaurant chain was established in 1947. This was the original location. There were four other locations in the Los Angeles area. The building last housed Fantasy Island, a strip club. The lighthouse and pole sign were built for Kelbo's. Around 2017, the neon was removed from the pole sign shown on the left above and new plastic panels were installed. None of the interior details remained. The building and sign were demolished in 2019. For more, see this website. |

Minnie's Restaurant opened in 1954. The interior featured Polynesian decor and more tikis. In 2020, the building began housing the Splash Video Dance Bar. I don't know if any of the interior remains. The two tiki heads outside remain. For more, see these websites: 1, 2, and 3. [map] |

The Outrigger Apartments retains a lot of nice details -- or at least they did. In 2008, just after these photos were taken, the place was remodeled and renamed the Huntington at Pasadena. The big tiki (shown top right) in front of the building has been removed. I'm not sure what's happened to the rest of the place. [map] |
