Tree of Health Aptos, CA |
Bear Tree Anaheim, CA |
|||
The Tree of Health was built to resemble a tree stump. It was built where a large redwood tree stood. The building is used as a medical office. I believe it was built in 1995. [map]
The Bear Tree was built from 1982-1983 as part of Hobby City. The 38 feet tall tree stump once housed a teddy bear collection and shop. It also produced sound effects of forest noises and singing birds. The tree stump is now rented out for parties. There were other structures on the Hobby City property devoted to different hobbies, including a gem shop, a candle shop and a puppet center. A half-scale White House houses the Hobby City Doll & Toy Museum. The building is now used for weddings and special events. There are still a few stores operating on the property including a hobby and train shop. In 1994, "Adventure City" was built on the property. It features rides, a petting zoo, and a theatre. For more, see this website. [map] |
Big Stump Trailer Park Porterville, CA |

The Big Stump Trailer Park building was built as a house originally. It was part of a campground. I believe it was built in the 1920s or 1930s. The round building is covered with redwood siding. Does anyone know more about it? [map] |

This Mailbox in Vidalia is abandoned in a field. It apparently advertised most recently for a storage facility. I don't know what its purpose was originally. The mailbox's arrow points down a road that leads to Eastern Fishing and Rental Tools which uses that phone number now. [map] This Mailbox in Vale was installed in front of the Full Throttle Saloon around 2017. [map] This Mailbox in Casey is 32 feet tall. It was built in 2015. Visitors can climb the stairs inside the structure to the front of the mailbox. The red flag on the side moves up when letters or postcards are mailed from inside. [map] |

The Fire Hydrant in Columbia was 39 feet tall and installed in 2001 as a public art piece. It was created by Blue Sky and was entitled "Busted Plug Plaza". The steel sculpture leaned to one side and rose from broken cement and spouting water. In 2023, it was removed. The Fire Hydrant in Las Vegas is located at Hydrant Park, a "social club" and boarding facility for dogs. The Hydrant was installed in 2013 when the business opened. It is about 14 feet tall. This Gas Pump in Sapulpa was to be 66 feet tall to go along with the Route 66 theme but it wound up being a little taller.
