Ranger Motel
Laramie, WY
2012: 2022:
The Ranger Motel had opened by the mid-1950s. There was a pole sign there then. This sign is probably from the 1960s. By 2021, the sign had been repainted and the Motel letters were replaced with letters for the Bar. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

Wyoming
Automotive Company
Laramie, WY
Thunderbird Lodge [gone]

The Wyoming Automotive Company has been there since at least the mid-1950s. This sign appears to be from then. The sign still had neon in 2012. This photo is from 2022. [map]

The Thunderbird Lodge was built in 1954 and this sign was probably from then. The sign was removed in 2023.

Elks Lodge
Laramie, WY
2012: 2022:
This Elks Lodge sign is probably from the 1950s. By 2021, the sign had been repainted but the neon was gone. [map]

Horseshoe Bend Motel
Lovell, WY
Moorcourt Motel [gone]
Moorcroft, WY
The Aud's Four Corners Bar sign might be from the 1950s or 1960s. [map]

The Horseshoe Bend Motel was built in 1969. This sign was built in 1973. [map]

The Moorcourt Motel may have gone by a different name originally. The neon sign appeared to be from the 1950s or 1960s. The plastic sign was probably added later. The sign has been repainted to depict the nearby Devils Tower National Monument. By 2021, the neon sign was gone and only the plastic panels on the right remained. This sign may have have been built for a frozen custard stand originally or it may have been built by the same company. The neon sign is now being stored at the Frontier Auto Museum in Gillette, WY which will restore the sign and display it at a neon sign park in the future.

Hatchet Resort
Moran, WY
The Hatchet Resort was built in 1954 as the Hatchet Motel. The first two signs were adapted for the name change sometime after 2006. These photos are from 2012. I believe the hatchet sign at the Sinclair gas station on the resort property was built in recent years. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

Stardust Motel [gone]
Newcastle, WY
Cowboy Bar
Pinedale, WY
Pine Creek Motel
Pinedale, WY
The Stardust Motel signs appeared to be from the 1950s or 1960s. By 2021, both signs were gone.

The Cowboy Bar was built in 1931 as the Rendezvous Pool Hall and Restaurant. It became the Cowboy Bar in 1944. This sign appears to be from the 1960s. It features an animated, falling cowboy. For more, see these websites: 1 and 2. [map]

The Pine Creek Motel sign appears to be from the 1950s or 1960s. [map]

More Newcastle:
Modern Cleaners [gone]

Tumble Inn [gone]
Powder River, WY
The Tumble Inn sign is probably from the 1950s. The Tumble Inn closed in 2005. The cowboy's gesturing hand was lit in two-part animation. In 2023, the sign was removed and taken to Casper, WY for restoration. The sign will likely be displayed outside in Casper when it's done. The panels have been sandblasted and they will all be repainted before neon is added.

This Korein Shriners Temple was built in 1909. This sign may be from the 1950s. [map]

Ideal Bread
Rawlins, WY
The Ideal Bread tile sign is installed above an unrelated business. I assume there was a bakery here originally. By 2018, the plastic box sign had been removed from the tile mosaic. [map]

Bucking Horse Lodge [vintage; gone]
Memory Lanes

South
Federal Inn [gone]
Riverton, WY
Jack Pine Motel
Riverton, WY
The South Federal Inn sign is probably from the 1950s or 1960s. The tubing holes on the "Inn" portion of the sign suggest that this place may have been the "South Federal Motel" first or went by an entirely different name. This photo is from 2012. By 2014, this sign had been replaced with a plastic box sign.

The Jack Pine Motel was built in 1953. This sign might have been built then or a little bit later. [map]

Tomahawk Motor Lodge
Riverton, WY
The Tomahawk Motor Lodge signs appeared to be from the 1960s. The pole sign is still there. However, the giant neon tomahawk on the facade had been removed by 2017. For more, see this website. [map]
