The Oakland Floral Depot was designed by Albert Evers and built in 1931, incorporating a smaller building from 1923. The exterior is faced with navy blue and silver terra cotta details. The building was nearly demolished in the early 1980s. The Oakland Floral Depot inspired the Sunset Club Couture building at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. The neon "Flora" sign was updated for the Palmetto bar and steakhouse moved into the corner location in 2020. [map]
This J.J. Newberry department store occupied part of the Oakland Floral Depot building. I believe it was here since 1931 as well. As of 2008, this space was vacant. In 2018, the building was being used by the Oakland School for the Arts. For more, see this website. [map] |

This I. Magnin & Co. department store was built in 1930 and closed in 1995. It sat vacant until 2001 when it was restored. The building now houses a Tierra Mia Coffee and office space. [map]
